(Jesus said) "If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all."
~ Mark 9:35.

Some people lead with a servant's heart while others are pushy or misuse their position. As a member of the Armed Forces, I sought out counsel with those of higher rank. Sometimes they sought me out. Not for advice, but to mentor me and show me how to be the best Airman I could be. Often I was humbled by my actions or lack thereof. Later, as I began to gain more experience and rank, I began to realize that some served with the heart of a servant and some did not. The servant wanted to help further my career while the other simply barked orders.
The best example was one of my chief master sergeants. He had reached the highest enlisted rank and began to truly serve people. He would even go to offices and work alongside the airmen. This is something you did not see very often. I would do anything my "servant" leader or Chief asked of me and did the bare minimum for the ones who just gave orders. Jesus’ entire ministry demonstrated this servant leadership. Anyone who will follow His example will find that their followers will go the extra mile each and every time.
