~ Song of Solomon 8:7
With all those who have passed before us, we live in times of great uncertainty. There are wars being planned and wars being fought, famines in one place and abundance in another, natural disasters at home and far from home. As if all of this was not enough, we continually face lions and tigers and bears…oh my!
There are a great number of reasons to cover our heads and cry out for deliverance from the horrors of this fallen world. So why, then, do we love? We love because perfect love casts out the fears that Satan’s hordes bombard us with day and night and night and day. When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against him. ~ Isaiah 59:19What standard (or banner) has the Lord lifted up against the schemes of the evil one? The standard was proclaimed by the prophets of old, explained by the apostles of long ago, and reinforced by teachers, preachers, and pastors to this very day. Jesus Christ, who was and is and is to come, is the mighty standard that, being firmly rooted in love, stands tall against all the despair of humanity.
Fellow saints, let us no longer live with our faces in the dirt, cast down by fear. Instead, look up and take hold of His almighty love, demolishing every argument and pretension that sets itself up against the love of God. Let go of fear and embrace His love, for love is as strong as death, and it burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame. ~ Song of Solomon 8:6
